Last Spring our very dear cousin, Ghada, came for a long visit from Lebanon and stayed with my parents. She noticed a trend in Grandpa's eating habits. If you know anything about my Dad, Ellison's Grandpa, he LOVES ice cream. In fact, I would venture to say that he has approximately 3 bowls a night of some sort of frozen treat. Well when Ghada commented on his consumption of ice cream, he responded, "Well you see, ice cream is to the Americans, what hummus is to the Lebanese." We obviously found great humor in this.
What did Ellison ask to eat for lunch and dinner yesterday? Hummus. What did she ask for while still lying in her crib this morning for breakfast? Hummus. I think we have got a little Lebanese girl! Don't worry Grandpa, she also loves ice cream. She just has not figured out how to manipulate me enough to allow her to eat ice cream for every meal. :)
