Ellison's school held a fundraiser, "Celebration of Gifts", to help fund the Art Program for next year. They had tons of activities for the kids, including a Princess Room, Science area, Cupcake Decorating, Race Car Arts and Crafts, Garden Party, and much, much more.
A manicure in the Princess Room.
It is hard to see, but her hair has been "glitterfied".
The Science area kept E entertained for long time.
Make your own bubble machine!
Some of the kids never left the cardboard box area... how fun!
I was pulling a dress out of Ellison's closet today as a potential choice (she likes choices). She looked at it and said, "too short". I thought, well won't her Daddy be so proud, and pulled another one. She looked at it and responded, "too pink". I pulled a few more, and received the responses of, "too long", "too little", "too big". Finally, I pulled out the pink dress with white polka dots... "Just right!"
Can I just bottle her up and stick her in my pocket? Ok, that's a bit weird. But honestly can she stay this way forever? She is just so darn adorable!
Note to Easter Bunny: Just bring the basket and grass next year.
Dylan just watched. . .
Ok, just bring the grass.
Ellison loved her new dress from Grandma
and purse and gloves from the Laydens.
Wow, Easter was a blast this year! Ellison woke up super excited to find her Easter Basket. Dylan was thrilled to watch E tear into her basket and his. We then headed over to my parents for a fabulous brunch. Ellison partook in an egg hunt around the pool and then bathing suits came on for some pool time. Overall an excellent day!
It has been a jam packed Easter Weekend for Miss Ellison. The festivities began on Good Friday when Ellison had the day off of school and Mommy had to work. So it was off to Grandma's house for a little Science Center and then an afternoon swim in the pool.
On Saturday, we ventured off to the Winter Park Easter Egg Hunt. 10,000 eggs covered the field and so did thousands of kids and their parents. Ellison captured 1 egg... unhappy girl!
After the disappointing egg hunt, I had to hit the books, so Graham took Ellison to the zoo. They had an absolute blast checking out the animals and partaking in the zoo's Easter festivities.
Dylan turned 5 months today! We celebrated with trying carrots and bringing out the exersaucer. To top it off, he is sitting up for a few seconds at a time and I spotted him turning himself back over. I have a feeling this upcoming month is going to be exciting!
Ellison has been saying some hillarious things lately! So before I forget, here goes. . .
I asked Ellison what she did at school. Her response, "Picked boogers."
She calls shirts, "lids".
I brought her along with me to try on shoes. She walked around DSW with her shoes off and tried on woman's shoes. Once on her feet, she would say, "It fits perfectly. Oh my lord."
Calls Dylan, "my smooshy guy".
Ellison was on a play cell at school. Her teacher asked who she was talking to. Ellison said, "I'm talking to Char." Her teacher then asked if she could talk to her and Ellison gave her the phone. A sentence into the conversation, Ellison whispered to her teacher, "it's a fake".
I overheard Ellison in the backseat repeating lines from Pinkalicious, "My arms were pink, My legs were pink, and My belly was the color of the sunset." I asked if she ate to many cupcakes. Her response in a duh kinda way, "the beach sun turned me pinkalicious".
While briefly watching 'Say Yes to the Dress', Ellison says, "I need my wedding dress to fit perfectly. I need to be big like you. And I want blonde hair like Sienna. I can't be small like me and brown hair." She then followed up with, "When do I get married with Dylan?"
A few days ago, Grandma relayed a conversation to me that she had with Ellison where Ellison said, "Sam and Ellison mommies and daddies are the best."
Well tonight, I was tucking Ellison into bed and we were chatting about her day. I asked her who she played with and she responded, "Mommy, Sam is still my bestest guy. He has the bestest mommy in the whole, entire world." I, of course, asked, "What about your Mommy?" Ellison responded with a big hug, "I have the bestest Mommy in the whole, entire world." Then she clarified, "Ellison and Sam have the bestest Mommies. Two mommies."
The hardest thing about being a mom to a little baby is that they just can't tell you what is wrong. Well, I mean they cry and whine, so you know when they are unhappy. But they just don't come right out and tell you.
So over the past few days, when my sweet little boy, Dylan, has been a slightly agitated (not normal), I have been trying my darndest to figure out why. What are the symptoms? Well, he only smiles 85% of the day, has an upset tummy, refusing bottles, as Ellison would say "toots a lot", and chews on aything and everything. Oh yes, and this is the big one... does not sleep.
I am thinking teething. However, while I wait patiently (ok, semi-patiently) for a tooth to poke through and give the little guy a break, I decided to try food. Thought process... happy belly = happy baby? Or at least I hope happy belly = more sleep = happy mommy. And we all know... happy wife = happy life :)
He's pulling away. . . hopefully some made the belly.
Ok, so the Flower Girl missed the actual Rehearsal for Kareem and Shara's Wedding... but she did make it to the party!
Shara and Kareem gave Ellison a Thank You Flower Girl gift...
Tutu, headband and pearl necklace.
She immediately stripped down
in the middle of the crowd and changed.
Dylan is a roly-poly-kinda guy these days. Honestly, I mean it. The little guy is rolling over and over again, while grabbing onto his toes and sucking a thumb. Always with a huge smile on his face, he is also reaching for things. In fact, I almost lost my lunch today as Dylan reached for my plate. And drum roll...... he reached out for me. WOOT, WOOT!
Dance Party in our driveway at all hours of the day . . . yep, this is normal. The first few seconds, Ellison does not realize the camera is on... when she does... OH MY... yep, this is normal. Welcome to my life.
Ellison and I had a little adventure to the mall last night to re-pierce one of her ears. On the way, she fell asleep in the car and woke up as we were entering Nordstroms. Our first stop was the shoe department where she decided that she did not want to try on shoes or get a balloon. Just as I was thinking of getting back into the car and not forcing my sleepy and upset child to go through with the piercing, she looked up at me and said, "I thought I was getting me ears pierced." I immediately looked at the shoes salesman and said, "We'll be back."
Off we went through the mall only to run smack into the Easter Bunny (seriously ran into him... he was standing in the middle of our path trying to get kids into his area). Ellison willingly took a picture and then once again looked at me and said, "When are we getting my ears pierced?" So off we went.
We passed by the Disney Store, and Ellison did not bat an eyelash. We had a little line at the earring store and she waited patiently for her turn. I kept thinking to myself, "is this for real"? Then, she sat down in the chair and told the lady, "I'm ready." What?!? Yep, she never cringed her neck or cried. And in the end, she was extremely happy to have her ear re-pierced.
Did I mention that I promised we would stop at the Disney store afterwards? Oh, I didn't? Oops... I guess that may be why she was perfect.
Mom, wife, attorney, volunteerer (if even a word) of all things... and so much more. Somedays my life is filled with crazy and chaos, but I always take the time to enjoy my surroundings. As for my wishes and dreams - a clean house, a daily hair blow out, and kids with a normal bedtime!
