Unlike Halloween last year, this year Ellison was not forced into a costume for the pure pleasure of taking pictures and oohing and aahing over our little bundle of joy. This year, Ellison took the stage as a Lady Bug (ay-dee ug) and pranced and danced her way from house to house to go trick or treating (trick-ee teeting).
Our first stop, my parent's neighborhood, was a success! Accompanied by Grandma, Aunt Kim, Papa, Dada and Mama, Ellison partied her way through my old stomping ground. Ellison's pumpkin basket was filled with all types of goodies, including a toothbrush and some pink dracula teeth! For our last stop, we were joined by Grandpa and Uncle Art for our favorite neighbor, Mr. Brown. There is something very heartwarming about walking up to Mr. Brown's house and seeing the same pumpkin lit in the window and Mr. Brown at the front door.
After a wonderful time in Lake Waunatta, we drove home to meet Uncle Tim and trick or treat in our neighborhood. As soon as we walked in our house, we were greeted by our favorite firefighter, Jaquan. Ellison gladly passed out candy (took some for her own pumpkin as well), and then we hit the street with Ellie in her pink car. All of our neighbors happily filled Ellison's pumpkin with lots and lots of candy. She even recieved a few extra scoops after she charming the neighbors with "trick-ee teet" and "tank yuu".
Here are a few of the few wonderful things to note about the evening:
- Ellison has no idea that what she collected is actually candy
- Oh yes, except for the M & Ms... she recognized that right away
- Ellison was braver them some us (won't mention names)
- Favorite item of the night. . . toothbrush
- Dada's favorite candy... EVERYTHING
- Uncle Tim's favorite candy... snickers
- The "eyeball" chocolates, well Ellison thinks they are "balls" and has been bouncing them through the house
- And finally, what use have we found for the candy... sorting... in the pumpkin, out of the pumpkin, in mama's lap, into the pumpkin... oh my, hours of fun.
We had a wonderful night! Happy Halloween!
